Pan pull-apart

Last week on Instagram Stories, I explained the whole process of how to prepare this pull-apart cheese bread. It is a recipe that’s fun, delicious, and really easy to make. It is also excellent as a first course and perfect to share.

Pull-apart bread

The reason it’s called pull-apart bread is because is a finger food, so soft that you can pick apart the bread with your fingers. There are many options for fillings, both sweet and savoury. On this occasion, I decided to use cheese, specifically Gouda, because I love it and also because it melts beautifully, but you can substitute it with any other cheese that you like.

Cheese pull-apart bread


A loaf of bread or bread ring (fresh or from the previous day)

200 gr (2 cups)  Gouda cheese

4 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

4 tbsp unsalted butter

Coriander, or any other fresh herb you prefer

Optional: a clove of garlic



Preheat the oven to 180ºC (350ºC). Place the loaf of bread on a big sheet of aluminum foil (so that some of it sticks out on every side), then put this on a cutting board and use a bread knife to make longitudinal cuts about one centimeter apart from each other, making sure you don’t cut all the way down. Then make similar transversal cuts.

Now, chop the coriander or simply separate the leaves. In a saucepan melt the butter in the olive oil, and then add the coriander and the garlic, if you decide to use it, and mix. Using a brush, spread inside every cut you’ve made in the bread.

Cut the cheese into small pieces and put them inside those crevices as well. The more cheese you put, the tastier your bread will be.

Now, cover it with aluminum foil and bake for 30-40 minutes depending on how strong your oven is.

Remove from the oven and enjoy your delicious pull-apart cheese bread. Buon appetito!
