A DELICIOUS BRUNCH IN VIGO

Un delicioso brunch en Vigo

This weekend Thomas, Scooby, and I took a trip to spend the day in Vigo and Cangas. We got up really early, so we could make the most of our visit and at 10 we had already arrived in Vigo. The town is usually called the “ciudad olivica” because according to tradition, in the 16th century the Knights Templar of the Order of the Holy Sepulchre planted an olive tree in the atrium of a temple there.

Our first stop was La Manière, a place that when I discovered it some time ago on Instagram I fell in love with, and not only because of the decoration but also because the dishes and desserts looked so amazing.

La Manière Vigo

The place is small, cozy, and a short 5-minute walk from Plaza de America. It also has a small outdoor area with tables. We decided to be inside, so we could enjoy the decoration. It’s dog-friendly too, which definitely earned them some extra points.

The coffee shop has a Nordic feel to it and it’s got plenty of special small details, like a selection of Portuguese ceramic dishes and cups made exclusively for them.

They don’t have a brunch menu as such, so you can create your own, choosing from the different options available for breakfast: healthy bowls, juices, smoothies, homemade granola, sweet and savoury toasts, coffees, and assorted teas. They had also prepared bakery, like cakes, scones, and cinnamon buns.

We really wanted to order everything, but in the end, we had:

*Two freshly-squeezed healthy green juices

*Toasts with grated tomato and extra virgin olive oil

*Two sourdough bread toasts with avocado and perfectly poached eggs. Delicious!

*Scones with clotted cream and jam, so excellent that we ordered that twice.

*Coffees

We loved everything and I will definitely come back to try more dishes the next time I’m in Vigo. When we left the place there was already a long line of people outside waiting for a table. Perfectly understandable too!

Highlights:

*I recommend visiting their Instagram profile to check their opening hours.

*They have vegan options.

*They have Take Away and I saw many people making quick stops to buy coffee and cakes, buns, or scones.

*The owners were very helpful via their Instagram account. When I told them we were coming from outside Vigo, they gave me tips on the best time to go so we’d find tables available, because they don’t make reservations. It’s first-come, first-served.

*They have a couple of shelves with imported teas, jams, Prana Chai, and organic plant milk for sale.
